My Approach
I do not believe in a “one size fits all” approach, and so I pull from a variety of therapeutic methods, depending on what works best for you.
What you can expect
The first thing I will do is listen to why you're here and what you're seeking. I understand that you have your own unique history and set of experiences that will determine the game plan we create for you.
For those of you looking for some more technical lingo in the industry, below is some information about some of the approaches I use and what to expect from therapy with me.
My approach is Client-Centered: I encourage you to show up exactly as you are. Ultimately, the answers and growth lie within you; and so I believe that you having the complete freedom to be authentic and through our exchange you may become more aware and clear with how you may move forward.
Sometimes we will use a Cognitive Behavioral Approach: Your thinking affects the way you feel and see yourself and others. Simply by gaining awareness around your own negative thoughts and thought patterns, you will be able to catch them and redirect to form more accurate views of yourself, thus allowing you to gain a true, healthier view of yourself, others, and the world around you.
Narrative therapeutic approach: People tend to create stories around different life events and experiences, which might not be accurate in regard to yourself. With this approach we can look at any “stories” you may have created and see whether we can create new stories that will empower you as you move forward.
Solution Focused and Coaching approaches: Sometimes, solutions can be as simple as turning on a switch. Sometimes it is helpful to process and go deeper but also helpful is finding solutions to thrive in your life and make more progress in the areas you feel you need that. Coaching will give you questions that serve for you to find those ways for yourself and to know your strengths and abilities.
EMDR: This is an approach to help people to process experiences, issues, and trauma. By going through steps you tap into your own innate ability to work though and resolve at a faster pace.
